What is the SafeDrive Fee?

A small percentage added to your rental rate for certain driver profiles. It is required under our motor insurance policy, which covers every car on the GoCar platform.

Why do I have to pay it?

Our insurer requires a higher premium to cover drivers in two groups. This fee covers that cost. We chose to charge it only on the bookings it applies to, instead of raising the rate for everyone.

Who does it apply to?

The verified driver on the booking, if either applies:

• Under 23 years old
• Driving on a licence issued outside Malaysia (foreign licence + IDP)

How much is it?

Licence issued outside Malaysia, any age	+10%
Under 23 and licence issued outside Malaysia	+10% (the two do not add up — the fee never exceeds 10%)

What is it charged on?

Rental rate only. Not on CDW, delivery, fuel, tolls or any other add-on.

How do I remove it?

• Upload a verified Malaysian driving licence — the 10% comes off your next booking.
• Turn 23 — the 5% comes off automatically. No need to contact us.

Where do I see it before I pay?

In the price breakdown on the booking confirmation screen, as a line called SafeDrive Fee, with the percentage shown. It also appears on your receipt and tax invoice. If it does not apply to you, the line does not appear.

Does my P2P host get this money?

No. Hosts do not set it, receive it, or have any control over it. It goes to the insurance premium. Host earnings are calculated on the rental rate as before.

I turn 23 during my booking. What happens?

For a single booking, the fee stays as confirmed at booking time. For monthly subscriptions, it is recalculated at renewal.

Is it refundable if I cancel?

Yes, on the same terms as your rental rate. Full refund means the fee is fully refunded. A partial refund means the fee is refunded in the same proportion.

Does it change my deposit or CDW?

No. Both stay exactly the same as any other renter's.

Something looks wrong. Who do I contact?

GoCar Support in the app, or [e-mail] with your booking reference. If the fee was applied in error — wrong date of birth, a Malaysian licence we missed, a waiver you already earned — we will review it and refund anything charged incorrectly.
